VikingHacks 2026 challenges students to build technology that creates a positive environmental impact. Participants will design solutions that reduce waste, improve sustainability, or raise awareness about climate issues.

Get started

  2. Brainstorm an idea related to environmental impact

  3. Start building your project

  4. Submit on Devpost before the deadline

Requirements

What to Build

Build a project that helps the environment in a meaningful way.

Examples:

  • Apps that reduce waste or track recycling

  • Carbon footprint trackers

  • Sustainability recommendation tools

  • Environmental data dashboards

  • Educational tools about climate change

What to Submit

Each team must submit:

  • Project description

  • Demo (video)

  • GitHub repository

  • Team member list

Judging Criteria

  • Innovation
    How unique and creative is the idea? Does the project present a new or interesting approach?
  • Usability
    How easy is the project to use? Is the design clear and user-friendly?
  • Technical Difficulty
    How complex is the implementation? Does the project demonstrate strong technical skills?
  • Impact
    How well does the project address environmental issues? Does it have real-world usefulness?
